About Us

Where it all began

Atlantic Acro was founded in 2020 by Elena Bonin and her mom, Sheena Butler. Elena has been dancing and tumbling since she could stand, and was 14 years old when she started Atlantic Acro. She has her eyes set on a possible future career in dance and acro teaching. To get there, she is both seeking out and making her own opportunities to take her training to the next level. Sheena is a dance mom who has watched her daughter, Elena, catch the acro bug and seek opportunities to work on skills at a rate that matches her development. Having driven many miles to support Elena’s training and in chatting with others, Sheena recognized an opportunity to bring together acro coaches and students from established dance practices in the region and offer additional acro training in one location. Instead of being the #1 participant, Elena has now fully taken over as the head coach, teaching multiple hours in the week to help other rising acrobats with seamless technique and advanced skill sets.

Our Services

Atlantic Acro is a goal-focused space that is meant to enhance what students are learning at their chosen performance school. We offer expertise from highly-trained coaches on a weekly, drop-in basis. Our Circuit class (recommended ages 6+) is a structured, basic tumbling, balancing, and flexibility practice with weekly new variations. This class is suggested for any and all levels to keep up their technique, and for beginners to learn how to improve. Following Circuit is our Open Gym class (recommended ages 10+) - an hour of open studio time for students to use any equipment with the help of a coach to work on their desired goals. A coach is present for supervision, spotting and feedback. This free studio/acro gym time is fun with friends for partnering, practicing routines, or for some great space that you may not have enough room for practicing at home.

The only commitment we require is to have fun and learn safely!
